Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn – Gore Vidal

Timeless Investments

Saturday was International Beach Clean Up day and because the company I work for is Green Globe certified and environmentally conscious, we took to the beach on Friday and Saturday!

So on Friday I wore my canvas sneakers to work to go pick up trash on the beach – and I got hella compliments.

Coach Barrett sneakers

I purchased these shoes in a 2009 Macy’s sale – so they’re going three years strong! I am getting ready to chuck them now, but isn’t it super cool that even though I’m thinking of retiring them, I still get lots of compliments when I wear them 😉

What I’m really getting at though is that especially in this economic climate,  it’s important to buy items that are of a good quality and will give you bang for your buck! It’s wise to invest in pieces that can be mixed and matched, dressed up or down and remain relevant for an extended period.  In other words, don’t buy it just because it’s fashionable – unless you’re definitely just trying to make a temporary fashion statement!

Instead of following trends, create your own style and rock it! Your pocket will love you for it and people will love your originality!

Some time ago, I came across this article which shares the same sentiments I am now blogging about. It’s a great read!

  1. You hit the nail on the head, “Instead of following trends, create your own style and rock it! Your pocket will love you for it and people will love your originality!” -Amen!
